The short version: Ember collects no personal data. It has no server, no account, and no analytics. It never makes a network request. Everything you type stays in your browser's local extension storage, and is deleted when you remove the extension.
To do its job, Ember keeps a small amount of information in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device only:
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| Your profile: sex, age, height, weight | To estimate your resting metabolic rate and fat-burn rate. |
| The time your current fast started | To show how long you have fasted and schedule hourly check-ins. |
| Your fasting goal in hours | To show progress and tell you when the goal is reached. |
| A flag recording that the goal notification was shown | So the "goal reached" notification is shown once, not every hour. |
This information is never transmitted anywhere. It is not synced to a Google account (Ember uses local storage, not sync storage), not sent to RVRS, and not shared with any third party. We cannot see it.
Your profile includes health-related information (your weight and the fact that you fast). Ember processes it only on your device, only to show you the estimates in the popup and in the hourly notification.
storage — to remember your profile, fast start time and goal between browser sessions.alarms — to wake the extension once an hour, on the hour, while a fast is running, so it can post the check-in.notifications — to show that hourly check-in as a silent Chrome notification. Ember shows no other notifications.Press End fast in the popup to delete the fast start time, goal and goal flag. Your profile stays so you do not have to retype it; edit it any time with Edit profile. Removing the extension from Chrome (chrome://extensions → Remove) deletes everything Ember stored.
Ember is designed for adults 18 and over and refuses to start a fast for an age under 18. It is not directed at children and knowingly collects no information from them (it collects none from anyone).
Ember's use of information stored in the browser adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Ember does not collect, transmit, sell or use user data for any purpose other than providing the fasting coach features described on this page.
Ember is for general wellness only and is not medical advice. Its fat-burn figures are rough estimates from a simple model, not measurements. Check with a doctor before fasting if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have diabetes or another health condition, take medication, or have a history of eating disorders.
This policy covers the Ember extension. The website ember.rvrs.ai is served by Cloudflare Pages and loads its typefaces from Google Fonts; those providers may see your IP address when the page loads, as with any website. The extension itself makes no such requests.
If Ember ever changes what it stores or starts using the network, this page will be updated before that version ships and the effective date above will change.
